TeBrucio and Librado laying in the mud. Getting
close to the left side now.
In fact we stopped there and poured the foundation hole and left side
pillar
and then came back to meet that part of the slab so the corner was locked
in securely.
Finished first meter of 12 meter slab. We've a
ways to go yet. They are supposed to complete the next two meters by next
Wednesday so I have
a flat place to lay the trusses out on and weld them together.
We are using 6" x 3/16" U channel for
the trusses. It was cheaper than
doubling up the 8" 14 gauge stock and gives us some meat to weld the
cross pieces to. I have cut out the 6" U channel in my shop at home
and
will do all the welding there.
The hard part is cutting the long 55cm diagonals
in the cross braces. They cannot be cut with the metal cutting bandsaw and must
be cut by hand using
a sawzall reciprocating saw. I am going to pick Chaleo up at Campamento tomorrow
and he is going to work on that part while I cut out the 2" angle bar
and flat stock to secure the cross pieces the roof sets on to the 6" U
channel.
This is Chaleo and Angel (Tomo's son) at my place using the sawzall to cut the long dagonals in the 3/16" 6" U channel for the trusses. 6 cuts took all day long.
This was not a fun part of the job.
