Well water issues and pre filters/pricing
The parameters of the water going INTO your Jupiter Ionizing machine are just as important as the machine itself if you want to fully receive the health benefits the machine is capable of giving you.  For example: if you are using bottled purified water instead of tap water or well water you need to know how your water is purified. If it is steam distilled or processed via reverse osmosis which takes all the minerals out of the water, the water ionizing machine will be of little value to you. Each of the little negative hydroxyl ions created inside the ionizer needs a positive mineral atom such as calcium, sodium, potassium or magnesium to attach to as part of the delivery system. Remember, one glass of 2.5pH  coca cola or other soft drink will strip 1025th ions from your body, primarily from your cells or bones, to neutralize it. Drink enough soda pop and your bones will look like sponges and become very brittle.  Alkaline ionized water remineralizes your bones, IF you keep an eye on the ORP (oxygen reduction potential) of the water  produced by the machine to ensure these minerals are actually there. Inputting the machine with water containing minerals ensures the high ORP output. You can buy inexpensive ORP meters to measure this with. I use a Hanna HI98120 ORP meter as well as a Hanna HI98130 meter which tells me the PH.

If you are using well or tap water you want to know several things about your water; the grains per gallon of hardness (quantity of calcium-magnesium in the water), nitrate/nitrites, sulphates which can make the water taste bad, pH, TDS (total dissolved solids), iron content, and whether or not bacteria is present. Look in the phone book and find a supplier of water filters and you will find a resource to test your water. The Jupiter ionizers come with an expensive .01 micron filter in them. You do not want to deplete this filter rapidly because of poor quality incoming water. You WOULD want to use prefilters designed to take out or reduce undesirable components of your water to acceptable levels before that water enters the ionizer.

Take my case for example here in Mexico.  We have available purified bottled water that is produced by old reverse osmosis equipment that doesn't strip all the minerals out of the water but  gives poor ORP readings of barely negative leaving the machine on a #3 setting. I get pH9+ water, but not the number of hydroxyl (OH-)  ions expected because of the lack of mineralization in the water entering the machine.  This also tells me that the water may not be as pure as advertised. That means there are not enough mineral atoms coming into the ionizer  to give me the full benefit of the alkaline ionized water leaving the machine.  I also discovered that the bottled water we have been buying has flouride added it to , probably because the RO membranes are old in their purification equipment and they want to make sure and kill any bacteria that may have gotten through the old membranes.  Flouride is a poison; I want nothing to do with flouride in my  water.

One answer was to add a prefilter called a coral calcium remineralizer, item 10-CRL below, which will add minerals to the incoming water boosting the ORP reading and health value of the outgoing water from the machine. But as the alkaline water ionizing machine wastes half the water going through it as acid water while we want the alkaline half of the water to drink; I would be using twice as much bottled water as we were before.

We also have available to us well water from a 28' hand dug well two lots down we use for household use instead of the high clay fine content water that is supplied by the development we live in,  but until now we had not considered it for drinking.  The Doc who owns the well wants the water used in it so it doesn't plug up due to non use.
It contains a trace of ecoli bacteria, 43 grains of hardness, 461 ppm total dissolved solids, and 170ppm of sulphates. Running it through the ionizer gives me better than a -300mV ORP reading which is excellent but all the junk in the water would destroy my Jupiter .01 micron filter in a short period of time. The .01 filter in the ionizer would capture any bacteria and viruses however.

The right answer for me  was to install a large one gallon size  .1 micron sediment filter and magnet set up on the line coming from our concrete storage tank into the house system, and then install a 4 stage Reverse Osmosis  setup at the kitchen sink to clean up the hardness, sulphates, nitrates,TDS and bacteria in the water  and follow that up with a coral calcium remineralizer cartridge (see this item in the prefilter list below) to add the minerals back into the water before sending it through the Jupiter alkaline ionizer.  The water tastes good after going through this setup and presents sufficient mineral content to the ionizer which gives me the best alkaline ionized water out of the machine, with most of those ions being calcium which is needed for my bones and cells.  Watts company ( www.watts.com  type in "reverse osmosis" into their search bar) makes a nice RO unit - Costco sells this Watts unit also at a good price.
I measure a -375mV ORP reading coming out of the Jupiter ionizer at a #3 alkaline setting which is very ,very good.
In the "on the counter pic" below,  the 5 gallon bottle has the finished RO water in it (well water that has been pushed through the 4 stage reverse osmosis filter setup)  It then goes to the Flojet pump (the square box just to the right of the 5 gal bottle)  then onto the remineralizer cartrige to the right of the FloJet pump and out of the remineralizer then left to the inlet of the Jupiter Ionizer.
The five gallon bottle actually sits to the far right on the counter. I use a one gallon container for the water cooler and am testing to see how long the ORP reading stays high enough to use in that manner. Looks like it will make it through the day if I charge it in the mornings. I'm also making ice to see if the ice will keep a high ORP charge longer than the cooler water.

In the "under the counter"  pic below, we have the RO unit on the right, the RO 5 gallon receptacle on the right also and the acid water from the ionizer collected in the left 5 gallon bottle. When we change the RO bottle we also empty the acid water bottle into the washing machine. I will also be spraying the plants with the ionized acid water to eliminate the bugs from them (see the video back on homepage for this application).

Many people may think this set up might be too inconvenient if they don't have well water suitable for drinking that can be hooked up directly to the ionizer and have to settle for bottled water or to clean their own well water up first. If their goal is to be able to drink 10.5pH, -350mV ORP water; it's not too much effort to set it up this way and maintain it this way.

If you would like further information on water analysis email me and I will email you back a 74 page .pdf document that addresses all you need to know about "Interpreting Drinking Water Analysis".

Jupiter Science Ionizers are designed to produce high quality filtered ionized water from municipal (treated) water systems. If your source water is from a well, it should be analyzed so that any pre-filtration needs can be addressed.

Please contact your municipal water or health department for information on how to get your water tested. If you own your property a well water test is standard in many states in order to close a sale. You may find a report in your closing or sale documents.

The tests we need to insure maximum benefit and functionality are: Bacteria and other organic contaminants, nitrates, nitrites, TDS (total dissolved solids),hardness, pH, iron, and anything else that might be specific to your geographic location.

Please discuss this with your local water experts, we cannot foresee every possible eventuality with well water. When you have this report, send a copy to us for a free analysis. We can recommend and provide any pre-filtration systems needed.

If you should have further specific questions or needs feel free to contact us at 309-409-3853 fax     www.ionizers.org

Ion Life offers a wide variety of specialty cartridge systems designed to handle virtually any water quality problem, and work in concert with your ionizing system. In most cases your ionizer will work just fine on your existing water supply. However, for those customers who live in an area with poor water quality or have a particular concern about certain substances in their water, specialty filters have been designed to remove a wide variety of constituents. Prior to purchasing any water filtration system, consumers should have an understanding of their current water quality. In many cases, it is prudent to conduct site-specific water quality tests by using an independent lab to ensure the filtration system is designed to take out everything undesirable. Ion Life’s team of water professionals are available to help design the appropriate tests, send sample bottles, provide sampling protocol and submit to a well-qualified laboratory for independent analysis. The data will be reviewed by water quality experts and the system designed and built by qualified technicians with decades of experience in the water industry. Following is a list of commonly used cartridges for customers using Ion Life Alkaline Water System. mg/L is the same as ppm.
