More pics of the trail we hike up every evening
This is a zoom in but you can see the trail going
up under the E in pedregal and then left up
alongside the P. It's about a 550' vertical climb in about a quarter of a mile.
Pedregal is the
owner of all the lots on the mountain.
Heading up the trail with Cubby and Muffy. I got
Irina up it twice and Jana up it once
but looks like it's just me and the kids from now on.
Our development.
You can see the club soccer field, racketball
court and
swimming pool below but the
club shutdown several years ago. It also has tennis
courts.
The owner tried to sell it but the title is not clear due to original politics
as well as the many
members who bought a membership not being paid back, us included.
The east half of colony club San Diego. You get a
little better idea of the steepness of the
hill in this pic.
There are quite a few houses in our development but
not
many people actually live here. Most use their places for getaways from the big
city on
occasional weekends. Some farmland still is worked but slowly is selling out to
crackerbox
housing for young couples like you see in the upper left. As in wall to wall 400
sq ft two room
houses for $15,000 to $23,000 each which might have cost them a grand or so to
build.
The Cubsey Bear on the water tank on top of the
mountain
There's a small herd of some kind of deer on the
mountain in captivity. They are pretty
big for deer. Almost look like caribou. At first they were pretty spooky but now
they just look
at us as we walk by. Muffy runs up to the fence and barks at them but now they
don't even
run from him.
Young buck just growing his antlers. You can tell the mountain is pretty rocky.
This is the guy's house on the mountain who owns the deer. Very expensive to
build up here.
Cubby and Muffy's favorite place after the hike.
