The  Playa La Mora beach overlooks a coral reef where you can snorkel over the live coral and view many different species of fish with all the colors of the rainbow and more. Fish vary from brilliant canary yellow to cobalt blue, yellow and blue, to irridescent polka dots, to colored stripes, big fish, little fish; don't even think of coming to Tenacatita without  snorkeling  either around the rocks on the Tenacatita side or directly over the coral reef on the Playa La Mora side.  And unless the tide is really low you can find passage from one side to the other through the rocks over the coral. It's every bit as good as Hanama Bay in Hawaii or the lagoons between Cancun and the Tulum ruins down by Cancun.  I've been to both places. I spend hours in the water here just looking at the spectacular color show God has created for us here.

Although considered by some as part of Tenacatita, La Mora beach is technically considered a different beach. As you come into Tenacatita and turn left to go to the RV park, you will see a bluff on your right.  If you turned right at that intersection a small dirt road will appear going up over the hill.  If you follow this you will end up at the Playa La Mora Beach which offers yet more secluded uncrowded public beach and another excellent snorkeling area to watch all the pretty multicolored fish which abound there around the rocks and in the coral.  Traversing around the end of the bluff at sea level is not recommended as there are lots of spiny sea urchins there to implant spears in your feet if you step on them which could make the rest of your trip rather unpleasant.

The Tenacatita beach is in the background behind the bluff in this picture and Playa la Mora is the beach in the foreground on this side of the bluff. This pic was "borrowed" from www.tomzap.com  which also covers Mexican beaches.

The rocks jutting out in front of the cliff on this side is an excellent place to snorkel also.  Looking down onto the reef on the Tenacatita side of the cliff.

Gotta see the fish I keep hearing about  How do you get these big flippers on?

Wow, that was quite a site; so many colors.  Tide is really low today exposing much of coral reef
